Cline
Open-source autonomous coding agent for VS Code that plans and edits.
Add Cline to your hut →Cline is an open-source VS Code extension that adds an autonomous coding agent directly to your existing editor. It can read and edit files, run terminal commands, and browse the web to research solutions — all from within VS Code. Unlike Cursor or Windsurf which replace VS Code entirely, Cline adds onto your existing setup and extensions.
It supports any model via API: Claude, GPT-4, Gemini, or local models via Ollama. The open-source nature means you can audit exactly what it's doing and customise its behaviour. Most often compared to Cursor and Windsurf (which are full IDE replacements) and Roo Code (a community fork with a similar design).
