Stable Diffusion
Stability AI's open image models — the backbone of much open-source gen.
Add Stable Diffusion to your hut →Stable Diffusion is the open-source image generation model that democratised AI art. Released by Stability AI in 2022, it became the foundation for a vast ecosystem of custom models, LoRAs (style adapters), and tools like ComfyUI, Automatic1111, and Fooocus. Because the weights are open and free, anyone can fine-tune it on custom art styles, train character-consistent models, or run it on a home GPU with no ongoing cost. The Civitai community has published thousands of community-trained variants.
For self-hosters, the cost is just electricity and hardware. Stability AI also offers hosted API access on a usage-based model. Most often compared to Flux (newer, better photorealism) — Stable Diffusion's edge is its enormous ecosystem, mature tooling, and the ability to fine-tune exactly to a specific style or character.
